PatentsPatents serve to protect inventions in the form of products, processes, methods, applications etc. against the unwarranted commercial exploitation by anyone other than the holder of the patent. Patent may be obtained by application for inventions which, at the time of filing of the application, have not been disclosed in any form and which hold novelty and inventive step and thus differ essentially from all prior art within their technical fields. Furthermore, the invention must be industrially applicable subject to specified regulations. The term of protection for patents is 20 years from the date of filing of the patent application.
